During deep-drawing, the drawn part (4) is clamped between the blank holder (5) and the drawing die (7). A groove (10) is formed in the surface (6) of the blank holder (5). Arranged opposite this groove (10), in the holding surface (8) of the drawing die (7), is a groove-shaped recess (16). This is connected by means of a passage (15) to a duct (14) which is connected to a compressed-air source. During deep-drawing, a pressure is exerted on the drawn part (4) by the application of compressed air. As a result, no bulges arise in rectilinear wall sections. Because there are no mechanical parts with a mating surface corresponding to the drawing die for braking the material flow, no wear of the die occurs at this point. Readjustment of this drawing brake is therefore no longer necessary. <IMAGE>
