The apparatus is used for compensating the tempature generated from gear shapers during the process of shaping gears. The temparature compensator comprises a proximity converter (50) sensing thermal expnasion or contraction length of the shaper, a thermistor (52) sensing the temparature at a reference point of an auxilary base, a thermistor (54) sensing the temparature at a reference point of a base, compensation resistors (60,62), a D/A converter (56) digitizing the analog signals of the sensors, and a motor driving the auxilary base for compensating the temparature induced distance.
