PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultraviolet ray emitting lamp capable of easily confirming its lighting or non-lighting state visually from the outside. SOLUTION: In this ultraviolet ray emitting lamp, an internal electrode 14 is disposed inside an airtight container 12 composed of an ultraviolet-ray transmitting substance and an external electrode 16 is disposed outside the airtight container 12. A discharge gas consisting of a mixed gas containing at least argon, bromine and sulfur hexafluoride is filled in the airtight container 12. On the surface of the airtight container 12, a phosphor 18 emitting a visible light when receiving an ultraviolet ray of a 192 nm wave length is attached.
