Multi-filament synthetic yarns are produced by melt spinning a number of monofilaments which are cooled in a cooling zone to solidify them, withdrawing them from the cooling zone at a rate of at least 25 x 104 cm per min. and bundling the monofilaments into a multi-filament yarn at a location between the cooling zone and a yarn guide, whereby the pt. is disposed a distance from the melt nozzle in accordance with the following equation X+25.0=L=X+4.58 (Y+28.0)+25X1011 / Z2 where L=is the distance in cm of the bundling location w.r.t. the melt nozzle outlet, X = is the distance in cm from the melt nozzle to the pt. at which the filaments are fully set, Y= is the desired denier of the mono-filaments and Z= is the winding speed in cm per min of the bundled multi-filament yarn. Method is used for making polyester or polyamide yarns. |
