The main body of this switch contains two pairs of contacts. A push button slides inside the main body and carries an intermediate piece. This latter piece is balanced between the main body and the push button by two springs of unequal strength. Due to this arrangement, when the push button is depressed, a projection inside the intermediate piece operates one pair of contacts, then continued pressure upon the stronger spring causes a projection in the push button to operate the second contacts. This switch is suitable for office machines such as typewriters where two pressures are useful for operating two functions.
