PURPOSE:To deform the groove edges of a molded synthetic resin article, and to form a colorful pattern, e.g. the grain, having depth, by (partly) drying a coating material applied to a grooved pattern of the molded article, and by treating the surface with a solvent. CONSTITUTION:The coating material 2 is applied to the groove pattern 1 on the surface of the molded article P of a synthetic resin, e.g. ABS, and dried partly. The article P is then immersed in a solvent which dissolves the article P and the film 2 to dissolve both of them. As the surface of the article P begins to dissolve, the swollen parts 3 are formed on the edges of the grooves toward the centers of the openings. After immersing for 10-20 min, the article P is generally taken out of the solvent, and dried with (hot) air to give a patterned synthetic resin article. |
