PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for the interlocking mechanism of an imaging optical system and a focusing detecting system, highly accurately detect the focus control state for objects and make assembling of the detector into cameras easy by providing a light emitter and a photo detector in the specified relation position to the imaging optical system. CONSTITUTION:When a camera is aimed to the subject and its power source is turned ON, a lens 8 reaches the terminal position in the arrow B direction, causing a set switch 27 to go ON. Then, a light emission control circuit 18 drives a light emitting element 15 to flicker at the power corresponding to the set position of the lens 8 and at a specified period. The light emitted thereby is projected to the subject by way of a mirror 11 and the light reflected thereby is entered to a photo detector 16 via mirror 13. According to the photo detecting output thereof, the lens 8 is driven in the arrow C direction and the movement of the lens 8 is stopped in the focusing position where the output of the photo detector 16 becomes maximum. By the output change of a comparator 25 of this time, a display control circuit 30 lights a display element 29, thereby making display in the finder. |
