AZIMUTH CORRECTION OF HEAD GAPS

A method of, and apparatus for, detecting an angular deviation of an audio reproducing head and producing a signal for correcting the head position if required. In order to avoid the need to provide one or more additional tracks containing identical signals for use in detecting head deviation the upper and lower halves of an information track are scanned simultaneously and the time difference between the zero passages of the signals is determined and is used to derive a signal for the compensation of the angular error.
