Plastics bumper for motor cars comprises a suitably shaped relatively flexible carrier of sandwich construction; deformable polyethylene wires of circular cross-section; an envelope of PVC-coated polyester textile with sewn-on slide fastener closure; and corner pieces of polyurethane integral foam. The claimed article is less likely to cause relatively grave injury to persons on impact than conventional metal bumpers, and also reduces risk of minor damages to vehicles colliding with each other. The "sandwich" construction mentioned above is achieved by glueing the component plies with unsatd. polyester resin. The laminate may be reinforced with glas- polyester- or aromatic-polyamide-fibres.
