Appts. for dyeing hair comprises a cylinder (6) containing dye and having an outlet to a comb (1) via a manually operable flow controlling valve (5). Dye passes to hollow tines (3) between bristles of the comb. The tines have semi-cylindrical ends with radial outlet holes. Dye flow is provided by a spring-biassed piston (8), movement thereof being controllable and limited by a rod (13) connected to a manually engageable eyelet (16). The eyelet can engage a cylinder end to retain the piston in a predischarge position to enable the cylinder to be filled.
