The dual braking system has a primary piston (3) and a secondary piston (5) arranged so that for normal braking they are displaced by equal amounts. A mechanical link between the pistons monitors any relative movement and operates an alarm if the movement exceeds a set value. The system provides a sensitive indicator for any leaks on one brake circuit, and operates the alarm before all the fluid has leaked away from that circuit. The pistons can either be in line or in parallel bores. |
