QAM modulated data signals with a system to produce rapid automatic smoothing, it operates on the linear amplitude distortion and group transit time distortion. The smoothing coefficients can be set to a considerably short time, given the frequency and the phase of the carrier frequency and the speed of the symbols. There are two pulse responses which are derived from the coherent demodulation of a pulse. The pulse is transmitted from a gate (1) when the other gate is earthed. They are fed to a two stage delay line, each corresponding to a given symbol delay. The pulse responses are read into a processor, which calculates the values of the coefficients. |
