The piston-type internal-combustion engine is particularly for heating small houses etc. In the final phase of the compression stroke the charge is divided into separate compression chambers working at different pressure. Part of the charge can be self-ignited and then used to ignite the remainder after passing through a predetermined crank angle. Charge division cna be by means of a number of recesses (5) in the cylinder, and past which the piston (2) travels, a smaller part of the charge being compressed to self-ignition point in the chamber (13) above the ascending piston.
|
