Location and control of rail vehicles - using detectors along track, connected to rails and coupled with two=wire AC carrying

The rails on which the train runs are welded together. The train has an aerial for exchange of signals with a fixed track station, inductively coupled with a two-wire line between the rails, crossed at specified intervals and supplied with A.C. Distances between the line crossing points correspond to the required accuracy of location of the train. A detector (DF 1-DE 3) is provided at each crossing point (KE1-KE3) and connected to both rails (S1, S2) i n order to evaluate the amplitude and/or phase of a track voltage depending on the train position and occupation of the respective rail section. A reference voltage depending on the current in the two-wire line (DG) is also applied to the detector.
