Double glazing panel - with thin gas-filled gap replacing single glass panes

Double glazing can take the place of single panes in industrial workshops and green houses if the gap between the panes is kept to under 5-6 mm. A seal which runs around the periphery between the two panes includes a profiled hollow spacer which is filled with a desiccant. The space between the panes themselves is filled with a gas or mixture of gases which is a worse conductor for heat and/or noise than air. The desiccant can also be embedded in the sealing material of the seal strip itself. The panes are preferably slightly offset relative to each other so that one pane stands out at one and the other at the other end. Such thin double glazing panels can be used widely and can be expected to give a long service life.
