The bus system (100) has a bus line with subscribers connected to it, which can be connected to each other in a predetermined order and specified combinations. Each subscriber has at least one programmable counter whose counting input is connected to a clock pulse generator, and output to switches making a connection between the bus line and a data source or drain of this subscriber. All subscriber counters are synchronized with each other, as in 2750818. In order to protect the bus line, switches are provided for detection of short-circuits and for disconnection of the line individual sections.
