Container ship with folding decks - has pivoted deck plates mounted in vertical supports acting as locating guides for containers

The hold of the container ship has vertical guides down which the stacks of containers are located. Folding deck plates (8) are set on lateral pivots on each guide to fold down when the relevant container is raised, to form normal decks for normal cargo. The plates are simple to operate and are swung to alternate sides going up the guides. The ship is rapidly converted from a container to a general cargo carrier, or a mixed cargo ship.
