NEW MATERIAL:Antibiotic SF-2049 having the following characteristics: white acidic powder; specific rotatory power [alpha]D<24>D+58 deg. (Cl, CHC13-CH3OH 1:1); m.p. 205- 210 deg.C (gradually turns brown after melting); elemental analysis C43.82%, H4.26%, N14.84%, S12.84%, solubility, easily soluble in a basic aqueous solution and CHc13- CH3OH (1:1), soluble in CH3OH and n-C4H9OH, slightly soluble in water, acidic water acetone, ethyl acetate, benzene, ethyl ether, etc. USE:Antibiotics selectively inhibiting the growth of some sorts of plant pathogenic fungi, e.g. blast, ineffective for bacteria at all. PROCESS:Strains of Streptomyces.sp.SF-2049 (Bikoken Registry N0.4486) or their producing dissociants are cultured under aerobic condition. The substance SF-2049 is separated and collected from the culture. |
