Feed compsns. contains a ruminant foodstuff base and maleic acid or an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, or ammonium salt of maleic acid, are new. The addn. of malic acid or a salt of this to improve the growth rate of ruminants esp. cattle and sheep. and improves the milk yield of dairy cattle.
