PURPOSE: Provided are an electrolyte additive comprising an organic silicon compound capable of improving life span of lithium ion battery, and a lithium ion battery comprising the additive. CONSTITUTION: The electrolyte additive comprises an organic silicon compound represented by formula 1 or 2. In the formulae 1 and 2, each of R1-R7 is independently or simultaneously hydrogen, alkyl group, or acetyl group. The lithium ion battery comprises (a) graphitized carbon capable of reversibly storing and discharging a lithium, which is an anode active material; (b) lithium-containing transition metal oxide capable of reversibly storing and discharging a lithium, which is a cathode active material; (c) porous separator; and (d) non-aqueous electrolyte comprising (i) lithium salt, (ii) electrolyte compound, (iii) vinylene carbonate, and (iv) at least one additives selected from the group consisting of organic silicon compounds represented by the formulae 1 or 2. |
