PURPOSE: To selectively and suitably inhibit a clutch shaft from moving back and forth during normal or reverse rotation of a gear case by providing a resilient spring clip for releasably holding the propeller shaft and a clutch shaft in a predetermined axial relation. CONSTITUTION: When a reversal gear case is operated, a spring clip 221 inhibits a clutch shaft 58 from forward moving, and accordingly, a flange 55 of the clutch shaft 58 and bevel gear 63 are prevented from making contact with each other. Thus, the clutch shaft 58 and the bevel gear 63 are rotated in the opposite directions, respectively, at a speed which is two times as high as the speed of a propeller shaft assembly 23 when a dog clutch 98 is meshed with the bevel gear 64. Further, when a standard rotary gear case is operated, the spring clip 221 inhibits he clutch shaft 58 from rearward moving so as to prevent the shaft 58 and the bevel gear 64 from making contact with each other, and accordingly both 58, 64 are rotated at a speed which is two times as high as a speed of the assembly 23 when the clutch dog 98 is meshed with the bevel gear 63. |
