The arm rest can be moved from its normal position on a seat and locked, limiting the central aisle of a motor coach or similar. Each arm rest (1) pivots by levers (9, 10) of a parallelogram, hinged to a frame (2). An energy store device (17) is worked by a control (24-27) and the arm rest locks automatically in any position. An interlocking pin (20) of the energy store and the lower part of the levers are inside the arm rest and the control gear on a base plate (3) closing the lower part of the arm rest.
