Application of a film of liquid to a moving strip such as, for example, a web (9) of carpet or other textile material, to ensure a substantially complete and uniform cover of the liquid is performed by apparatus which includes an array of multiple openings such as spaced nozzles (14) for emitting respective streams of the liquid towards the strip and flow dispersal means (22) positioned in the path of the streams to receive the liquid issuing from the nozzles and to disperse the individual streams into a substantially uniform film of the liquid for delivery to the moving strip. In one arrangement, the flow dispersal means is an inclined plane (22).
