<p>The cock has a tapered plug (11) which fits into a tapered bore in the body (10). A spring (18) which fit around the plug stem (16) presses the plug into the bore to maintain a seal. A sealed chamber is formed above the plug by means of a cover (15) with O-ring seals. If, due to wear, there is a leak between the plug (11) and the tapered bore, the fluid flows into the chambers (12, 14). The greater area of the upper diameter of the plug results in the plug being pushed downwards with a greater sealing force.</p> |
