<p>The device consists of a flexible, e.g. rubber, tube, flattened over its lower end, the two faces of the flattened section pressing together to effect a seal, by virtue of the reduced pressure in the cyclone to which the device is connected. The length of the flattened section is such as to keep the seal closed until a certain amount of the dust has built up, forcing open the tube and allowing a portion to be released. A connecting band surrounds the tube where it is fixed to the cyclone and has two diametrically-opposed tabs extending downwards over each face of the flattened part. A threaded rod passes through each tab and is fixed to the adjacent face of the flattened tube to draw the faces apart by a chosen amount. The seal can be used on cyclones sepg. dust from air used to transport materials in a pneumatic transport system, before the air is released into the atmosphere. Dust collected to be removed from the system continually without the risk of dust-laden air escaping or air entering the system.</p> |
