Illuminating and light distribution device, use of the latter in a perforated paper tape reader

A single low-power light source (16) illuminates a reflector (20) mounted in a cover (13) consisting advantageously of a block of transparent material whose lateral faces reflect the light internally. The latter is reflected first of all by a parabolic reflecting surface (23), then by a straight-line reflecting surface inclined at 45 DEG (22). The light then exits in the shape of a light beam perpendicular to a main face of the reflector. A perforated paper tape (17) moves under the reflector and photosensitive elements (15) mounted in a plinth (10), under the tape, these elements being illuminated or not by the light beam according to whether the strip bears a perforation or not opposite them. <IMAGE>
