In order to reinforce an area of fabric, a press roll (4) is driven in rotation by a motor (6), and has longitudinal grooves (7) intended to receive a quantity of the plastic material in the fluid stage. A return motion mechanism (12) makes it possible rapidly to separate the support element (5) in order to leave a wide passage for the fabric to be reinforced, and to return it in order to allow the application of the plastic material onto a specified area of the fabric. Adjustable stops (13) make it possible to limit the press force as a function of the thickness of the fabric, so that the plastic material in the fluid state does not pass through the fabric, this material then being hot-cured in an oven.
