Scroll filter press for sepg. water from organic fibres - has roller rotating with scroll against cylindrical filter wall to achieve compression

Water is sepd. from a mixt. of a fibrous, organic solid material and water by means of an inclined screw conveyor into the lower end of which the mixt. is fed. The scroll is encased over a lower portion of its length in a filter material by means of which the free water is drained from the mix and is equipped at the upper end with a compression element which rotates with the scroll and subjects the mix to a pressure. The rotating element interrupts the scroll and presses the mix against the outer filter whilst the scroll continues to convey the material through the conveyor. The pressure element is pref. in the form of a long roll rotating about a shaft parallel to the shaft of the scroll and linked to it by means of two pairs of hinged arms and a compression spring. If the scroll is mounted on a hinged lower foot, its angle of inclination can be adjusted. The scroll/filter combination is simple and much less expensive than traditional filter press installations so that it can be used in small works or farms.
