For use esp. in building scaffolding, the tubular framework system comprises frame elements of circular cross-section, horizontal or diagonal ones being fixed to upright ones with wedges. The uprights have concentric metal disc-shaped rings embracing the elements with a flange action with four or more elongated holes as in 2449124. There are diagonally aligned frame elements (160) with end fishplates (161). On each of the two fishplates there is a joint shoe (170) rotatably fastened with a pin (171) on a side face of a prismatic spacer piece (175) passing through a hole (164) in the plate, the spacer being firmly connected to the shoe. This enables scaffolding to be reinforced with diagonals when used for work on a hangar-type ceiling, or similar.
