Stabilising loop for gyro-mounted camera platforms - has TV camera gyro with compensating loop to provide damping control to minimise oscillation

A compensated servo control of a stable gyroscope platform for use with TV cameras is designed to provide controlled damping to minimise transient oscillation. The yaw axis of the gyroscope (33) has an associated velocity sensor coupled to a compensating network (42) that feeds inputs to the servos unit (41). The platform drive unit receives the output of the servo unit. In particular the compensator provides differentiation of the feedback signal, provides filtering, damps long period oscillations and provides high loop gain.
