<p>The incoming signals (AL, AR) pass simultaneously to their respective control units (6, 7) and bandpass filters (8, 9). The former control the volume of lower and/or higher frequency components when necessary, and invert the phase of the complete signal. The filters (8, 9) attenuate the lower and higher frequencies and pass the remaining left and right signals to the right (11) and left (10) signal mixers respectively. The mixed signals are amplified (4, 5) and go to loudspeakers (1, 2) in the normal way. Stereophonic perception is improved in cases where the distance between the two loudspeakers is small.</p> |
