Compression ignition engine injector - has two symmetrically situated flats on pintle

The injector is for a compression-ignition engine, particularly of the ante-chamber type, having a needle valve opening inwards from the nozzle seat and with a throttling pintle extending into the bore in the nozzle tip. The pintle (5) has at least and pref. two flats (7) machined on it, situated symmetrically in relation to each other. The design gives a high degree of self-cleaning, and avoids unsymmetrical loading of the pintle.
