The electrolyte filling device is separate from the vent, and a hole is provided for a device testing the battery state. The clear cross-section of the filling device is so narrow, that it is closed by the liquid owing to the capillary effect and pressure is generated by the filling process when the liquid enters the vent. A testing hole in an elastic diaphragm is separate from the filling device and is closed when the testing device is withdrawn. The filling channel passes through an annular slot between a filling pipe and a radial collar. At least one projection (40) on th circular flange (29) enters in the annular slot (34).
