The invention relates to a nickel oxide-hydrogen cell and a method of producing such cells. The cell has a gas-tight pressure casing containing a cell stack comprising gas diffusion members, a positive nickel oxide electrode separated from a hydrophilic negative electrode by hydrophilic separations. The components are inserted in a dry state in the casing and at least one of the components of the stack is impregnated with the total required amount of an alkali metal electrolyte in solid form. The casing is sealed apart from a filling pipe and the exact amount of water necessary for the electrolyte is added through the pipe after which the container is completely sealed. |
