PURPOSE:To obtain purified air easily without dehumidification and heating by using a catalyst consisting of a support molded by mixing specific substances and Pd or a mixture of Pd and one or more of specific noble metals in the purification of exhaust gas from open type combustor. CONSTITUTION:The apparatus 8 consisting of the fan 5 and the catalyst layers 6 and 7 is provided on the upper part or wall of the open type combustor 1 used in household petroleum heater, etc. The catalyst, prepared by adding Pd and platinum by separately mentioned method to a granular support prepared by mixing, molding, and drying a mixture of K2CO3 and alumina cement, is put between two unwoven fabrics of polypropylene for use. The combustion gas is introduced into the catalyst layers 6 and 7 by means of the fan 5 to convert CO into CO2 and then exhausted to the outside. The exhaust gas can be purified by easily removing CO present with simplified apparatus without necessity for heating the catalyst at more than 100 deg.C and also dehumidifying the gas, as in the conventional methods. |
