1522575 Conveying solids in liquids TEXACO DEVELOPMENT CORP 11 March 1977 [24 June 1976] 10292/77 Heading F1R A solid fuel-water slurry of improved pumpability characteristics contains between 0À1 and 5À0 wt per cent of ammonium hydroxide. Preferably the slurry further includes 0À01 to 3À0 wt per cent of an anionic surface active agent comprising an organic sulfonic acid salt e.g. ammonium lignin sulfonate or the sodium salt of 2,6-dihydroxynaphthalene sulfonic acid. Most of the solid fuel, e.g. lignite or sub-bituminous coal, preferably passes through a 200 mesh sieve. The resulting slurry containing only 40 to 50 wt per cent of water can be pumped to a gas generator.
|
