Cylinder head surface cooling bores 19 (Fig. 1) and valve-seat cooling ducts 32 (Fig. 3) are separate and independently supplied with coolant. In operation, the cooling temperature of the cylinder head coolant is 60 DEG C, whereas the temperature of the valve seat coolant is more than 110 DEG C. Only the exhaust valve seats need be cooled, or both the exhaust valve and the intake valve seats can be cooled. <IMAGE> |
