Centrifugal beet cutter with a vertical drum 2, which has cut-out sections 4 for accommodating cutter edges 3. Built into the drum 2 is a rotor 7, which has a base section 8 comprising a hub 9 and a flange 10, and which is fixed to a drive shaft 5, which is mounted coaxially with the drum 2. The rotor 7 carries curved blades 11, which in order to increase the force with which the beets are pressed against the cutter edges are each formed in such a way that their projection in a horizontal plane represents a curve, and so that a perpendicular to the said curve at any of its points in the area between the radius of the rotor 7 and the half of the radius of the rotor forms an angle α from 10 degrees to 40 degrees with the said radius drawn through the selected point. At their end the curved blades 11 may have pockets with deflection surfaces in order to prevent jamming of foreign bodies. The centrifugal beet cutter may be used in the food industry for the manufacture of beet sugar. <IMAGE>
