An image forming apparatus is provided to accurately sense a deviation of the density of a developed image by sensing the density at a plurality of positions. An image forming apparatus includes a photosensitive drum(10) on which an electrostatic latent image is formed, a developing unit(20), a sensor(30), and a moving unit(40). The developing unit develops the electrostatic latent image with a developer. The sensor senses the density of the developed image. The moving unit varies the position of the sensor such that the sensor senses the density of the developed image at a plurality of positions.
