Interlock for electrically driven cutting machines has a sensor carried by a rod adapted to actuate a switch in the current circuit of the cutting machine. It also has a finger guard carried by a support rod which is arranged for vertical displacement by a lever system in association with the butt of the machine. The sensor permits the switching on of the machine only when cutting material is available on the cutting support and when the machine is in operative position oven the support.
