An apparatus and a method for removing a transient phenomenon of an LCD monitor are provided to block the transient phenomenon from being displayed by outputting a black pattern signal through an LCD panel before a backlight is turned off when a change state of the resolution of the monitor is determined and then the resolution of the monitor is changed. An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) panel(620) is equipped with a backlight lamp. A controller(400) controls the backlight lamp and the driving of the LCD panel according to the change state of an image signal input from the outside. An image signal processing module(500) performs signal processing such that a specific pattern is output in preset duration and an image signal is displayed depending on the resolution of a changed image signal according to the control signal of the controller(400).
