Mobile feed unit giving even material flow

The mobile unit evens out the flow of material, having a hopper below the level of its travel track to receive material in bulk dumped in it by lorries. A conveyor belt discharges the material from the hopper to successive sections of an opencast mining system, and particularly to sifting and crushing units of discharge conveyors. The hopper is an open-topped vessel (19) secured to the frame (18) supporting the conveyor belt (14), and which can be lowered below the level at which the lorry tips (2) into a previously prepared hollow (20) below the level of the travel track.
