The structural swivel joint is used in automobile suspension systems, having a two piece housing contg. the ball of a swivel pin (7). The housing may be of type which is fixed to a steering column, its constituent pieces (2, 3) comprising hemispherical radially flanged (4, 5) plates which are connected by bead welds. One piece (5) has two or more round section tenons (10) projecting perpendicularly from its joining face, and which are force fitted into corresponding holes (11) in the counter piece. A temporary connection is, thus, provided to fix the relationship of the pieces during welding. |
