<p>A system is provided for preserving controlledrelease properties in a needle-suture combination in which a fluid-swellable suture is held by swaging in a recess in the blunt end of a needle. A controlled excess cross-sectional area is provided within the swaged portion of the needle recess to permit swelling of the suture end without excessive change in pressure in the areas where the suture end is pressed by the swaged inner walls of the recess.</p> |
