PURPOSE:To achieve the reduction of power consumption by using electrochromic displays as time display elements and stopping current supply during the period when changning of display contents is not required. CONSTITUTION:This relates to the time display circuit using the electrochromic displays (ECD) having non-volatile memory functions as time display elements 71 thru 74, wherein a cut-off circuit 9 is provided and the ON-OFF controlling of current supply to decoders 51 thru 54 and driving circuits 61 thru 64 is accomplished by said circuits, so that current is supplied in the decoloring period and coloring period for changing the display contents of the display elements 71 thru 74 and current supply is stopped in the period when the change of the display contents is not required. Even if the voltage to be applied to the display elements is extinguished, the decoloring or coloring state is maintained until the voltage is applied next and there are no hindrances at all in the continuation of the display because the ECDs have non-volatile memory functions. |
