An animal forage feeding trailer has a movable conveyor floor (4) leading to two vertically spaced beaters (6). The beaters rotate and have tines (8) which pick-up forage and project it over to an auger (10) having flights (22) that move the forage through the trailer side. To avoid forage loss at the beaters, a concave shield (14) lies below the lower beater between the conveyor and auger. Its upper edge (20) is scraped by the auger flights. The lower edge is divided by longitudinal slots to form prongs (24) contacting the conveyor by spring pressure (32).
