Pressure fluctuations occurring in the intake pipe 3 of a carburettor are communicated to the fuel well through the open end of tube 14 which is an extension of the compensation tube whose lower part is perforated along at least one generating line and whose upper part carries a compensation jet 13. In the extension is either a check valve or a constriction 15 which is so shaped that the pressure drop for gas flow through the constriction towards the jet 13 is less than for flow in the opposite direction. When acoustic resonance occurs in pipe 16, pressure increases in well 17 and depresses the fuel level so that the mixture supplied to nozzle 5 is weakened.
