The electronic circuit includes LV battery and generates a HV pulse which produces a spark between two electrodes to light the gaslighter. The circuit includes a continuous - continuous convertor which charges a capacitor. A trigger circuit discharges the capacitor for a preset step voltage. The convertor includes a Darlington transistor oscillator. A voltage step up circuit includes at least one inductance and rectifier. The base of the first transistor of the oscillator is biassed at the start of oscillation by a circuit which includes a resistor and is connected to the negative battery terminal. A switch is used to close the circuit to start it oscillating. A feedback resistance connects the base of the first transistor to the common point of the record transistor and the step up voltage circuit.
