<p>The cement paste contains by wt. 70% min. of calcined carbonaceous material, plus a high temp. plasticiser (I) contg. one or more organic carbon cpds., and a plasticiser (II) for ambient temp., consisting of one or more cpds. in aq. soln. Plasticiser (II) is pref. an aq. soln. of molasses, other sugars, alginates, and/or lignosulphonates; whereas the plasticiser (I) is pref. pitch and/or a thermoplastic resin insol. in water. The pref. cement paste contains 6-15% plasticiser (I) and 8-15% plasticiser (II), esp. to obtain a paste contg. max. 5%, partic. max. 3% water. The carbonaceous material pref. is or contains scrap graphite- or carbon- blocks including fines with size below 0.25 mm. and as agent resisting moisture. Esp. for luting electrolysis cells and/or their carbon cathode blocks for industrial mfr. of aluminium; but also for luting or sealing the lining of any other furnace.</p> |
