The dividing head comprises a frame (1) containing a bore (2) in which there is mounted a pneumatic piston (11, 12) actuating a gripper (38) mounted rotationally by means of a central body (20, 21) fitted with a ring gear (22) driven by a worm (30) and which can be indexed. The central body is integral with a bed (41) carrying movable pegs (44) capable of occupying two positions, an active position and an inactive position and interacting with a mini-valve for controlling the indexing. This dividing head overcomes the drawbacks of using oil and makes it possible to obtain finer division. <IMAGE>
